This evening about 30 m inutes ago I was sent an e-mail by a very good friend out in California about Debit and Credit Card scamming.
My friend was at a Walmart and used her Debit banking card to pay for her purchases - as she was handed the reciept she noticed something on it
that she did not authorize - Cash Back on her reciept there was a $40 cash back - she did not authorize it nor did she get the $40.
Right there and then she called out the cashier on it eventually the manager had to be called in.
The entire purchased was refunded back onto her Debit Card and the Transaction was again conducted...this time before she ever hit okay for purchase she noticed
a $20 cash back charge that she did not authorize and right then and there told the cashier that she would not approve until the charge was taken off.
When she got home she told her husband what happened and she started talking with many of her friends....they to had been experiencing the same problem.
The deal is this that when you do a cash advance on a Credit Card it is harder to catch and you are charged interest on it.
This is not just happening at Walmarts - but there seems to be more of it going on at Walmart.
Please if you are making purchases via Debit or Credit to check the electronic interface on the payment before hitting okay.
I feel sorry for any Elderly person that this has happened too.
Please be careful and aware of what you are being charged and paying for - DO NOT pay for some lazy thief that doesn't want to work for thier money but
instead steal it from those that are not paying close attention.
Also the other thing that is being done is a customer will get a gift card - the cashier will do what they need to do, and with slight of hand give the customer and empty Gift Card
while they pocket teh gift card with the money on it.
Also they will have an item and go in and change the price on it $5-$40 over the normal cost. the cashier then pockets the money.
Thought you all would like to know.
